When I look back at my twenties and thirties, I see someone doing all the “right” things – working hard, staying active, eating relatively well, squeezing in social plans between deadlines and gym sessions – living life! But behind the scenes, I was dealing with flare-ups of gut symptoms that made life feel harder than it should have been: bloating (especially around my period, where by the end of the day I looked six months pregnant), unpredictable digestion, brain fog, and my energy was up and down.
I’d been diagnosed with IBS and told to “manage the symptoms” – but I wasn’t offered much beyond that. I kept going, hoping things would settle, but they didn’t. My digestion felt completely out of sync. I was either wired but exhausted, struggling to fall asleep, or waking in the night feeling restless and overwhelmed. My energy levels were unpredictable, and I found it hard to concentrate or stay focused.
At the time, I didn’t realise how much my fast-paced lifestyle and food choices were contributing to how I felt. I was genuinely trying to be healthy, but many of the things I was doing were unknowingly fuelling my symptoms. Pushing through became my default setting, and feeling rubbish slowly became my normal.
It wasn’t until things got really bad – when the chronic fatigue kicked in – that I finally turned to nutritional therapy, but it shouldn’t be a last resort! It should have been the first thing I did, but I didn’t know there were people who could share their expertise and support me in fixing my health.
That’s one of the reasons I love working with people in their 30s and 40s now. If I’d worked on my gut health and hormonal symptoms in my early 30s, rather than accepting the IBS label and trying to cope, I could have avoided years of discomfort and burnout.
Everything changed when I started working with a nutritional therapist. It wasn’t about restriction or unrealistic meal plans – it was about understanding my body and learning how to support it properly. Through gut healing, nervous system support, and targeted nutrition, my symptoms began to shift. I got my energy back, my digestion became more predictable, and for the first time in years, I actually felt well.

That experience is what fuels the work I do today. I understand the demands of busy work-life schedules, social commitments, and gym routines – and how easily they can mask or worsen symptoms like bloating, brain fog, or fatigue. I’m not here to ruin anyone’s fun or hand out rigid rules. But I am here to help you feel like yourself again – clearer, calmer, more energised – and to stop those early warning signs from turning into something more serious.
Because the truth is, you don’t know what you don’t know. And figuring it all out alone can be overwhelming. Getting the right support is one of the best things you can do for your gut, your energy, your happiness and your long-term health.
